What is the Battery all about?
The battery is the sole source of electrical power for the car. The battery is charged during vehicle operation by the alternator. If the battery is not charged sufficiently, you will not be able to start the car or use any electrical components (lights, radio, etc.).
Keep in mind: After the technician installs a new battery, you may lose your personal settings for radio stations, clock, etc.
How is it done?
- Perform a load test.
- Remove and replace the battery if it is bad.
- Clean the cables and install anti-corrosion washers.
- Test charge system for proper operation.
Our recommendation: Corrosion is the battery cable’s worst enemy. If you open the hood of your car, you may find a white or bluish powdery looking substance (dried acid) on the battery and cables. This acidic substance will corrode the battery terminal-ends and the battery cables. It is good practice to have the battery and cables checked and cleaned at regular intervals. This will prevent corrosion from building up and it will extend the life of the battery cables. Applying Vaseline or a dielectric grease compound to the terminals of the cables will also prevent any corrosion buildup.
What common symptoms indicate you may need to replace the Battery?
- Car does not start.
- None of the electrical components work (try the lights and radio).
How important is this service?
A battery in your car serves the same purpose as a battery in your remote control: it powers it. Without a properly functioning battery, your vehicle will have no electrical power, and will be unable to start.

Brake Bulb Replacement

What is the brake light bulb all about?
Brake light bulbs are located at the back of the car, housed inside a protective covering (lens). The brake light turns on when you push the brake pedal, letting drivers know that you are slowing down. If the brake light does not illuminate, you’re at a higher risk for causing an accident and/or being pulled over and cited by a police officer.
Keep in mind: The number of brake lights a car has can vary. The third (or rear window/center) brake light should not be overlooked when doing an inspection.
How is it done?
- Inspect brake bulbs, sockets and wiring.
- Replace the bulb, if faulty.
- Check all the lights.
Our recommendation: A technician should inspect the brake light during a major service. Before replacing a bulb, your technician should also inspect the socket and wiring. Due to the high amount of current flowing through these sockets, sometimes the sockets melt, causing the brake light to malfunction.
What common symptoms indicate you may need to replace the brake light bulb?
- Brake lights do not work when the brake pedal is depressed.
- Light bulb warning light is illuminated on the dashboard.
How important is this service?
When you apply the brakes, your brake light bulb illuminates. This allows drivers behind you a warning that you are slowing down, so that they can slow down as well. A dead brake light bulb will never work, and your car will be devoid of this important safety feature. Not having working brake lights is also illegal, and can result in a hefty “fix-it” ticket.

Headlight Bulb Replacement
Headlight Bulb Replacement Service (Installation only)

What are headlights all about?
Headlights are about helping a driver see and, perhaps more importantly, helping a vehicle be seen. Most new cars come equipped with headlight bulbs instead of the whole headlamp units, which means you can simply replace the bulb. Some cars have four bulbs in the front (two for high beams and two for low); other cars only have two bulbs (each bulb can provide both high and low beam). Also, most new cars have separate fuses for each headlamp. Before changing the bulb, the technician should inspect the fuse for that particular bulb. If the bulb doesn’t light up after installing a new bulb, there may be a problem with the socket, wiring, or the switch.
Keep in mind: Some vehicles use HID (High Intensity Discharge) headlights. These headlights use several components to produce a very bright light. The bulbs for these systems can cost over $100. Please confirm the type of system you have installed on your vehicle prior to booking an appointment.
How is it done?
- Inspect the bulbs, sockets and wiring.
- Remove and replace the faulty bulb.
- Operate headlamps and check operation of all other lights.
Our recommendation: Keep the headlamp lens clean and free of oxidation. It is common for the lens to get dirty and not allow enough light to shine through. Mechanics can use a special lens oxidation restorer kit to clean the headlights. This will greatly improve the quality of light coming out of the lens.
What common symptoms indicate you may need to replace the headlight bulb?
- Headlights are not coming on.
- One headlight is dim compared to the other side.
How important is this service?
Cars have multiple headlight bulbs, all of which combine to project light out of the front of the vehicle. This light serves two purposes: it allows the driver to see when it’s dark out, and it allows the vehicle to be seen by other motorists and pedestrians. When a headlight bulb goes out, that headlight will not omit any light. This decreases visibility for the driver and for the driver’s surroundings, making the vehicle less safe. A headlight bulb that doesn’t work is also illegal, and can result in a “fix-it” ticket.

Cabin Air Filter Replacement
Cabin Air Filter Replacement Service (Installation only)
Starting at $25

What is the cabin air filter all about?
When you turn on the heat or air conditioner, the air that you get from the car vents originates from outside the car. The cabin air filter cleans the air before passing it through the heating or air conditioning system.
Keep in mind: The cabin air filter is different from the air filter. The job of the air filter is to clean the air that goes into the engine to burn fuel. The job of the cabin air filter is to clean the air that you get from the vents inside the car. You may have more than one cabin air filter.
How is it done?
- Remove and replace the cabin air filter(s)
- Clean out all the debris from the compartment if needed.
Our recommendation: Follow the manufacturer’s maintenance schedule and change the cabin air filter as recommended. If you regularly park your car under a tree or near bushes, the cabin air filter(s) will likely suck up debris and leaves, becoming dirtier, faster.
What common symptoms indicate you may need to replace the cabin air filter?
- Airflow from the AC vents is low or weak.
How important is this service?
When you turn on the heat, fan, or air conditioning in your vehicle, the air that enters the cabin is taken from outside the car. Before passing through your vents it first goes through the cabin air filter, which captures much of the dust, dirt, and harmful pollutants in the air. A functioning cabin air filter assures that the air coming through your vents is clean. When the cabin air filter stops working, the air that enters your vents is unfiltered and can be harmful to breathe. A dirty cabin air filter also obstructs the flow of air to the vents, which will lower the power of your heating or air conditioning system.

What is the engine air filter all about?
Your car takes in air and passes it into the engine through the air filter. (Some cars have more than one air filter.) The air filter takes out dust, leaves, and other debris from the air before passing it into the engine where it’s mixed with fuel. The combination of air and fuel is essential for the car to run. If the air filter is dirty or clogged, it will not pass enough air into the engine, causing all sorts of problems (car may not start, engine may not run smoothly, etc.). If you use a reusable air filter (K&N), please specify that in the appointment notes, as you may just need a cleaning instead of a replacement. Unless you bought K&N filter, your car has a regular filter.
Keep in mind: Replacing an air filter is one of the most straightforward and affordable automotive repairs. Air filters cannot be repaired, only replaced.
How is it done?
- Remove and replace air filter.
Our recommendation: A mechanic should inspect the air filter during every maintenance service (in cars where the filter is readily accessible).
What common symptoms indicate you may need to replace the engine air filter?
- Engine is running rough.
- Engine may not run.
- Low gas mileage.
- Check engine light is on.
How important is this service?
A dirty air filter is unable to keep dirt, dust, and debris from entering your engine. When your air filter is dirty, your cylinders and oil will both be subject to contamination from dirt particles in the air, because they have no alternate method of filtering the air. This contamination causes wear and tear on your engine, and also reduces your gas mileage and emissions.

Wiper Blade Replacement
Wiper Blade Replacement (Installation only)

What is the windshield wiper blade all about?
A windshield wiper consists of a pivoting arm with a long rubber blade. Powered by the wiper motor, the blade swings back and forth over the glass windshield, clearing debris and enhancing visibility. Wiper blades are made of rubber and as such, the sun and other elements cause damage that prevents the blades from doing their job.
Keep in mind: Oil or wax build up on the windshield will not be removed by the windshield wipers.
How is it done?
- Remove and replace wiper blade(s)
Our recommendation: Have your wiper blades inspected and changed every year. The best time for this is right after summer, before the rainy season arrives.
What common symptoms indicate you may need to replace the windshield wiper blade(s)?
- Streaking of windshield.
- Screechy or scraping sound when blades are operating.
How important is this service?
Your windshield wipers are responsible for giving you visibility out of your windshield. When you pull the lever on your steering column, the rubber windshield wiper blades run across your windshield, and wipe away any water or debris that has accumulated on the glass.
When your windshield wiper blades break or die, the wipers won’t be able to clean away your windshield. If you are driving in the rain, your vehicle will have no way of getting the water off of the windshield, and you will have next to no visibility, which makes driving very dangerous.
